Buffalo Bisons News Release

BUFFALO, NY - Playing in the finale of a seven-game series, the Buffalo Bisons fell to the Syracuse Mets 4-2 on Sunday afternoon from Sahlen Field.

Joe Biagini opened for the fifth time this season and gave up one unearned run and didn't allow a hit over his two innings of work.

Jordan Groshans opened the scoring for the Bisons in the third by driving home Kellin Deglan off an RBI single, however Shaun Anderson would give up a solo home run to Daniel Palka in the following inning which put the Mets out in front 2-1.

Bowden Francis entered in the fifth and built off his previous strong appearance, throwing two perfect innings while striking out four; Francis has now struck out 10 batters over his last two outings, totalling five innings.

The Bisons got some help from the rehabbing Danny Jansen, who crushed a home run over the wall in left to tie the game up at two in the sixth.

Jeremy Beasley then entered in the bottom half, but gave up a two-run homer to Gosuke Katoh - his third of the series - to put the Mets up by two. Matt Gage succeeded him and got out of a big two-on, nobody out jam in the eighth, before Derek Holland did the same in the ninth.

The Bisons went down in order in the ninth against Yoan López who closed things out and secured the fifth win of the series for Syracuse.

The Bisons will enjoy an off-day tomorrow before travelling to Des Moines, IA for a six-game series against the Iowa Cubs beginning on Tuesday. The Herd opened the season against the I-Cubs at Sahlen Field where they took four of six.
