OMAHA, NE - The Toledo Mud Hens suffered defeat at the hands of the Omaha Storm Chasers 9-6 in Omaha Sunday night. The Mud Hens went down 4-0 early on, but brought it back to a tie before the Storm Chasers would score four more in the same inning. The Hens would tack on two more trying to mount a comeback, but the Chasers tacked on an insurance run to seal the deal in the 8th.
Josh Lester led the way offensively, tallying two hits including an opposite-field grand slam that put the Mud Hens on the board. Ali Sanchez and Brendon Davis also tallied two hits and Sanchez picked up an RBI. Zack Short and Akil Baddoo also tallied a hit, with Short notching an RBI.
Bryan Garcia tallied his first career start, pitching 3.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits, one home run, two walks and a strikeout. Jose Cisnero made another rehab appearance, pitching a scoreless 1.0 inning allowing one hit. Nivaldo Rodriguez pitched 1.0 inning, allowing two runs on two hits, both were home runs, while striking out one. Angel De Jesus tallied a scoreless 1.0 inning, allowing one walk and two strikeouts. Miguel Diaz tallied the loss after not recording an out, surrendering four runs on two hits and two walks. Miguel Del Pozo pitched a shutout 1.0 inning, while walking two batters. Nolan Blackwood pitched the final 1.0 inning, giving up one run on two hits, including one home run while striking out two.
What's Next - The Toledo Mud Hens will head to St. Paul, MN for a six-game series against the St. Paul Saints beginning on Tuesday, July 12th, with first pitch at 8:05 pm EST.
