WORCESTER, MA - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (40-43) came back to defeat the Worcester Red Sox on Saturday. Rob Brantly tallied a four-hit game including a game-tying single in the ninth inning.

Domingo Germán made his fourth rehab appearance (first with SWB), nursing a right shoulder impingement. German struck out four batters in four scoreless innings. He allowed just one hit to the first batter he saw in the first inning. Germán in his rehab stint has now gone 14.1 innings while allowing just one earned run (0.63 ERA). The RailRiders took the advantage against Worcester starter Brian Keller. Brantly lifted a high pop-up to shallow center that dropped in to plate Phillip Evans for a 1-0 lead. It would be the only run they would garner as Oswald Peraza flew out on a deep drive to left with the bases loaded, but Sox outfielder Christin Stewart made a leaping grab to deny a bases-clearing knock.

Jhony Brito relieved for Germán, who was slated to start the game before the rehab announcement. Brito surrendered a run on a sacrifice fly from Johan Mieses to even the game at one in the fifth inning. A Ronaldo Hernández RBI single in the bottom of the eighth gave Worcester their first lead of the game 2-1.Scranton/Wilkes-Barre responded in the top of the ninth inning. Brantly tied the game with an RBI single to left field, his fourth hit of the game. It was his first four-hit game since June 5, 2019 while as a member of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Max McDowell would then drive home the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly to right for a 3-2 advantage. Shane Greene tallied his third save in the last two series with a 1-2-3 ninth.

NEWS & NOTES

FIRST THINGS FIRST - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders return to Polar Park for the final time this season. In the only trip they took here earlier in the season, the WooSox won four-of-six games with SWB winning the last two. After this series, the two will play 12 games all at PNC Field. The WooSox won four-of-six in Moosic last year from August 3 to August 8.

AT THE PAAAAHK - SWB has won six of their last seven games at Polar Park, during which they're batting .275 (66-240) with a 2.76 ERA (19 ER in 62.0 IP). With yesterday's win, they are now 6-5 at this yard this season after starting out 0-4.

THRICE IS NICE - The RailRiders are just three games under .500 for the first time since April 29 when they were 9-12 on the season. They haven't been two games within .500 since they were 9-11 on April 29 after game one of a doubleheader.

SEVENTH HEAVEN? - The RailRiders have been in eighth place or lower in the International League East since May 1 (70 days). With a win today and a Norfolk loss, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre would find themselves tied for seventh place. The Tides take on the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp tonight at 6:35 PM on the road with Kirk McCarty on the mound.

TOOK IT - With yesterday's win, the RailRiders have won the series over the WooSox, their third series victory at Polar Park in five tries. Saturday's win was their fifth comeback in the seventh inning or later and their first since May 29.

ANOTHA ONE - According to Yankees reporter Bryan Hoch, New York reliever Jonathan Loáisiga "is scheduled to appear on Tuesday for the RailRiders, then may be added to the big league bullpen." He tossed a scoreless inning with a strikeout yesterday for Tampa.

COMO LA FLOR - Estevan Florial hit his second home run of the series on Friday night. Both of his home runs in this set have been solo shots off Geoff Hartlieb. Florial finds himself on a ten-game hitting streak and currently leads the RailRiders in home runs, RBI, batting average, and stolen bases. He has a hit in 25 of his last 28 RailRiders games.

KEEPING UP WITH THE CABRERAS -Infielder Oswaldo Cabrera is on a Minor League rehab assignment with the Tampa Tarpons. He has played five games, four with Tampa and one in the Complex League. He has gone 5-for-14 with a homer, double, 3 RBI, 2 BB and 2 SB so far in his rehab. Cabrera had been held out of game action with a right shoulder issue since May 8. He played 22 games with SWB before being shut down.

STREAKY - Estevan Florial is on a ten-game hitting streak... Miguel Andújar is on a four-game hitting streak... Greg Weissert has not been charged with a run in ten straight outings.

KIKÉ? NO WAY! - Worcester currently has Kiké Hernández on a rehab assignment, coming back from a right hip issue. In his first game on Friday, Hernández went 0-for-4 out of the leadoff spot with two strikeouts. He has played 51 games with Boston this season but none since June 7. Hernández is in his second season with Boston after spending six seasons with the Dodgers.

JAKE SMASH - Friday, Jake Bauers launched his second RailRiders home run to right-center 111 MPH off the bat. It sailed 470 feet, good for the longest home run by an opponent in Polar Park history. The longest all-time homer at Polar Park was hit by Worcester's Tate Matheny on September 12, 2021, going 481 feet. Bauers' long ball is tied for the fourth longest amongst all batters at this yard all-time.

ON DECK - The RailRiders return home on Tuesday, July 12 to host the Louisville Bats. It's "Twosday". Get 2-for-1 lawn or bleacher seats online only and enjoy $2 Landshark Lager tallboys for two hours after gates open, presented by PrimoHoagies and The River.
