
Bats Secure Series Win with 5-4 Victory over Saints

Louisville, KY- The Louisville Bats (34-49) complete their first series win since early May against the St. Paul Saints (40-43) behind a great day at the plate from Ronnie Dawson (3-for-4, 2RBIs, HR) at Louisville Slugger Field.
Louisville's Ronnie Dawson started his day right where he left off in last night's affair when he kicked off the bottom of the second inning with a single. Mark Kolozsvary followed up with a single of his own, moving Dawson to third. Dawson then scored on an error by St. Paul's infield, giving the Bats an early lead of 1-0.
St. Paul answered the Bats second inning by tallying three runs in the top of the fourth, inning including a solo shot from Caleb Hamilton, and a two-run homer provided by Curtis Terry to give the Saints a 3-1 lead.
Ronnie Dawson quickly had an answer as he blasted a solo homer over the centerfield fence in the bottom of the fourth inning. This homer was his eighth of the season, additionally it was his third blast in the last two days. This shortened the Bats deficit to 3-2.
In the top of the fifth inning, Elliot Soto started with a single for St. Paul. Soto was moved to second with Michael Helman being walked. Caleb Hamilton would drive in Soto with a single to left field. This brought the Saints lead to 4-2.
Louisville posted three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, with Colin Moran, Ronnie Dawson, and Mark Kolozsvary each collecting an RBI, pushing the Bats' lead to 5-4.
In the final two innings, the Louisville Bats' pitching staff shut door and secured the win. Pedro Payano faced the minimum recording two strikeouts in an inning of work, and Eddy Demurias earned his first save of the season striking out two and surrendering a lone hit.
The Bats will hit the road as they head to Scranton on Tuesday (July 12) where they will face off with the RailRiders, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, in a six-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM as Justin Dunn (0-and-0, 3.18) will get the ball on the mound for Louisville as the RailRiders' starter is yet to be announced.
