Biscuits Drop Back-And-Forth Battle to Smokies

KODAK, Tenn. - After five innings without a run, the Biscuits (41-42/6-7) took two leads before an eight-run inning by the Tennessee Smokies (42-40/9-4) gave the Smokies a 6-5 win Tuesday night at Smokies Park.

The Biscuit took their first lead when Hector Guevara tied the game at one with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Jake DePew followed with a solo shot - his first double-A home run - to make it 2-1 Biscuits.

Kevin Brown gave the Smokies their second lead with a two-run triple in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 3-2. Biscuits came right back with a three-run double from Alejandro Segovia in the top of the seventh to again give the Biscuits a lead, 5-3.

The final blow for the Smokies came in the eighth. Braulio Lara walked one then allowed three-straight singles to make it a one-run game.

Santiago Garrido entered to get the first out of the inning with a pop out.

Anthony Giansanti grounded up the middle but the Biscuits could not turn the double-play which made it 5-5. Elliot Soto singled to follow to give the Smokies their final lead of the game.

Game four of the series is Wednesday night at 6:15 cst. RH Angel Sanchez is the probable starter for the Biscuits while the Smokies have not yet announced their starter.
