PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Pensacola Blue Wahoos have added former Major League catcher, Lou Marson, to the team. Switch-hitting catcher, Chris Berset, has been placed on the disabled list with a left wrist sprain.

Marson most recently played in the Cleveland Indians organization in 2013. Marson played three games for the Indians and combined to play nine games at Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus in 2013. The 28-year-old catcher played in a career-high 87 games for the Indians in 2010. Marson had his most successful big league season in 2011 when he hit .230 with a home run and 19 RBI.

The Philadelphia Phillies drafted Marson in the fourth round of the 2004 draft out of Coronado High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. He spent five and a half seasons in the Phillies organization before he was traded to the Indians in 2009 along with Jason Donald, Carlos Carrasco and Jason Knapp for Cliff Lee and Ben Francisco.

Outfielder Bryson Smith, who has been on the disabled list since late April, has begun rehabbing in Arizona after having surgery to remove bone spurs from his leg. The timetable for his return is still unknown.
