Montgomery Biscuits News Release

KODAK, Tenn. - Pierce Johnson (2-1) held the Biscuits (41-43/6-8) to one hit through 7.1 innings as Montgomery fell 7-0 to the Tennessee Smokies (43-40/10-4) Wednesday night at Smokies Park.

The only trouble Johnson found himself in all night was when he walked the first two batters of the second inning. Jeff Malm grounded into a double play followed by a fly out from Hector Guevara to end the inning. The only hit Johnson allowed was a leadoff single by Jake Hager in the fourth. Johnson responded by retiring the next 12 batters he faced before being lifted in the eighth inning due to a high pitch count.

The Smokies offense exploded in the second inning off Victor Mateo (8-6). With the bases loaded and no outs, Kevin Brown started the scoring by driving in two with a double. Jae-Hoon Ha ripped a two-run double to make it 4-0, and then Stephen Bruno singled home the final run of the inning to make it 5-0. The Smokies brought ten men to the plate in the second.

Ha added an RBI-double in the third. Luis Flores hit a solo home run in the fifth to give the Smokies a 7-0 lead.

Hager finished with two of the Biscuits three hits. Malm also had a single.

The series-finale is Thursday night at 6:15 cst. RH Michael Colla will be on the mound for the Biscuits. RH Eduardo Figueroa will throw for the Smokies.
