Late Rally Falls Short for Lookouts

Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
A late rally by the Chattanooga Lookouts (6-7) wasn't enough to catch up to the Birmingham Barons (6-6), who took the third game of the series by a score of 10-5.
The Barons came out swinging, finding their way to an early two-run lead, but it was cut in half in the third inning. To start the inning, Chris Curley, the Barons' second baseman, threw the ball away as Angel Sanchez was racing down the first base line to give him first base. Sanchez made his way around to third before Scott Schebler was able to hit a ball long and deep enough to let him tag third and score the first Lookouts' run of the game.
Birmingham kept piling on the runs on the scoreboard in bunches, staking themselves to an 8-1 lead by the time the bottom of the sixth inning rolled around, but the Lookouts had plenty of fight left in them. They led off the inning with a single by Daniel Mayora, which Bobby Coyle promptly followed with a double. A groundout and a sacrifice fly was all that was needed to bring both of them around to score, but it was a two-run home run by Casio Grider that capped off the inning and brought the once formidable lead down to just three runs.
Two more runs were tacked on in the late innings by the Barons and the Lookouts couldn't answer the challenge and fell short on a muggy night at AT&T Field.
