Hershey Bears News Release

GIANT Center ice has been very kind to the HERSHEY BEARS this season sporting a record of 25-8-0-4. The BEARS look to rally with the home ice advantage and have a chance at the 100-point mark at home this Saturday. The BEARS got a big boost last weekend with the return of Stowe, Vermont native Graham Mink. Mink has provided a physical presence on the power play and has a goal and an assist to his credit since returning to the lineup last Sunday. Louis Robitaille only needs 12 more PIM's to eclipse the 300 mark. HERSHEY'S has had a lot of success this season against the two opponents they are playing this weekend. The locals have had success this season against Lowell (1-0-0-0) and Philadelphia (6-0-1-2).

The Lowell Lock Monsters come to town Friday night looking to keep their dim playoff hopes alive and renew some old acquaintances. Lowell is 14 points behind fourth place Providence for the elusive fourth and final playoff spot. The Lock Monsters have eleven players on their current roster that suited up for HERSHEY at one point last season. Keith Aucion and Paul Healey lead the team in scoring with 77 and 40 points respectively. Former BEAR Johnny Boychuk has had a big year for Lowell offensively tallying 31 points from the blue line. HERSHEY defeated Lowell in their last meeting March 8th with a 3-1 victory at Tsongas Arena.

Saturday brings the Philadelphia Phantoms to town for the last time this season. The Phantoms have had a tough run as defending Calder Cup champions from last season, slipping into last place in the East Division. Veteran defenseman John Slaney and veteran scorer Jim Campbell having reached the 40-point plateaus this season lead John Steven's club. The Phantoms are the American Hockey League leader in penalty minutes with 2044. Philadelphia is currently 12 points out of the final playoff spot, but has won 3 in a row as of Friday.

Tickets are still available for both games this weekend by stopping by the box office in person or calling (717) 508-BEAR. Come out and cheer the BEARS on as they look to reach the 100-point mark for the fourth time in team history!!!

John Wilsbach will call the game tonight from GIANT Center with the M&C Foreign Car Parts pre-game show beginning at 6:40 p.m.
