Bats Tie up the Series as Layne Somsen Makes His Debut, 2-1

LOUISVILLE, K.y.--- Right-hander Layne Somsen made his Triple-A debut with the Louisville Bats (29-26) tonight in the win against the Buffalo Bisons (27-28), 2-1 on his 26th birthday.

Designated hitter Jermaine Curtis earned his first homer of the season in the first inning to put the first score on the board. Later in the inning left fielder Steve Selsky scores off of a ground out by shortstop Josh Satin.

With a successful debut by Somsen he was relieved by right-hander Jose De La Torre (1-0). Somsen went for four innings, allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out six.

Left-hander Felix Doubront (0-1) started on the mound for Buffalo and escaped bases loaded by walks with three strikeouts in the third inning. Doubront was relieved by right-hander Chad Jenkins to start the sixth inning. He went for five innings, allowed four hits, two runs, one earned run, walked three, struck out eight, and allowed one homerun.

In the fifth inning the Bisons attempted to answer back. Second baseman Andy Burns scored off of an RBI single by centerfielder Dalton Pompey to make the final score 2-1.

De La Torre took the win for the Bats and went for two innings, allowed three hits, one earned run, walked one, and struck out one.

The Louisville Bats and Buffalo Bisons head into game three of the four game series tied, tomorrow at 6:05 P.M. Projected to pitch for the Bats right-hander Donovan Hand (1-2, 3.22) and for the Bisons left-hander Randy Wolf (4-1, 1.93).
