LOUISVILLE Ky.- The Louisville Bats (58-61) were shutout for their third straight game after falling to the Columbus Clippers (65-52) by the score of 2-0 on Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field. The Bats have not scored in their last 29 innings. The last time the Bats were shutout in three straight games was back in the 1995 season.

Columbus picked up an early 2-0 lead after scoring in each the second and third inning and that would be all they would need to secure the win.

Robert Stephenson (L, 4-1, 3.43) started the game and suffered the loss for the Bats. He exited early due to an injury. Stephenson pitched two innings. He gave up one hit, two earned runs, and four walks while striking out one.

Toru Murata (W, 12-4, 2.88) earned the win for the Clippers. Murata threw six innings and gave up three hits, no runs, and three walks while fanning four.

The Bats offense picked up five hits which were all singles. The hits came from Juan Perez, Kristopher Negron, Ramon Cabrera, Chris Dominguez, and Adam Duvall.

The Bats will play the finale of the three-game series against Columbus on Thursday at 7:05 PM. Expected to pitch for Louisville is righty Josh Smith (2-3, 3.63). For the Clippers, right-handed pitcher Jordan Cooper (3-2, 3.65) will be on the mound.
