Syracuse, NY (8/12/2015) - The Syracuse Chiefs won their ninth straight game and second in a row over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs with a 9-5 victory on Wednesday night. Emmanuel Burriss, Jason Martinson and Dan Butler each had two RBIs and a double in the win.

Lehigh Valley (53-65) opened up the scoring in the top of the third inning. Catcher Logan Moore led off the inning with a ground-rule double down the right-field line off Chiefs starter Paolo Espino. With two outs later in the inning, Chase d'Arnaud singled to right, scoring Moore to make the score 1-0.

Syracuse (52-67) answered immediately in the bottom of the third. Caleb Ramsey walked to start the inning and then moved to third when Butler singled to center. Espino then laid down a sacrifice bunt that scored Ramsey on the throw to first. During Burriss' following at-bat, IronPigs starter Anthony Vasquez threw a wild pitch that allowed Butler to advance to third. Burriss then promptly singled to center to drive in Butler and give the Chiefs a 2-1 lead.

The IronPigs continued the scoring in the top of the fourth. Second baseman Tyler Pastornicky led off with a single to center and then advanced to second when Brian Bogusevic walked. After a double play that ended in Pastornicky moving to third, Kelly Dugan singled in Pastornicky to tie the score at two.

The Chiefs broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth. Following a groundout to begin the inning, Matt den Dekker and Ramsey hit back-to-back singles. With runners on first and second, Butler lined a double to left, driving in both den Dekker and Ramsey. Espino grounded out, advancing Butler to third, who then scored on a Burriss double to left. Trea Turner followed Burriss with a walk to put runners on first and second for Martinson. The Syracuse third baseman followed with a two-run double to center to put the Chiefs up 7-2 after four innings.

In the top of the fifth, Lehigh Valley scratched across three more runs in a small comeback attempt. Serna led off the inning with a single and advanced to third when Pastornicky doubled. With two on and two out, Bogusevic homered to right, bringing the score to 7-5.

Syracuse, however, shut the door in the bottom of the sixth with a pair of runs. Nefi Ogando came in as the IronPigs third pitcher of the evening and walked Chiefs reliever P.J. Walters to start the inning. After a fly out, Trea Turner reached on an error by Pastornicky to put runners on first and second. Following a Martinson strikeout, Kevin Keyes and Matt Skole hit back-to-back singles to score Walters and Turner, respectively, to put the Chiefs up 9-5.

The Chiefs and IronPigs play the final game of a three-game set on the final Dollar Thursday this season with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. Syracuse will send left-hander Richard Bleier to the mound to face fellow left-hander Jesse Biddle.
