LOUISVILLE, KY. - Three Bats homer as Louisville (53-77) snaps a five-game losing streak and powers past Columbus (74-54) 6-5 on Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

After giving up a leadoff triple to start the game, Reds rehabber Hunter Greene (0-0, 2.25) dialed in, striking out the next three batters he faced. Columbus was able to take advantage of the leadoff hit though as the runner scored on a wild pitch to take an early 1-0 lead.

Greene went back out for the second inning and struck out the first two batters of the inning. After a hit-by-pitch and walk, a wild pitch put two runners in scoring position, but Greene was able to work out of the jam, striking out his sixth batter to prevent further damage.

Louisville got to work at the plate in the home half of the second. Juniel Querecuto lined a single to right to lead off the inning. After a strikeout of TJ Hopkins, Stephen Piscotty stepped to the plate and launched a two-run home run to left, his second of the season, to put Louisville on top, 2-1.

Columbus answered with a home run of its own in the third, tying the game at 2-2.

The Bats tallied another run of their own in the bottom of the fourth after Cristian Santana singled to start the inning and was later brought home by a line drive double off the bat of Hopkins to retake the lead 3-2 through four innings.

Louisville continued to add on, scoring again in the fifth. Michael Papierski kicked the inning off with a bang, knocking his first Triple-A home run of the year. In the next at-bat, Lorenzo Cedrola tripled and was brought home immediately after on an RBI single by Matt Reynolds to extend the Bats lead to 5-2.

The Clippers scratched another run across in the top of the sixth, courtesy of an RBI double to cut into the Louisville lead, 5-3. Columbus would go on to tie the game at 5-5 in the top of the eighth courtesy of two-run homer.

Querecuto was the hero of the night, blasting his eighth home run of the year to right field in the bottom of the eighth to put Louisville on top 6-3. Dauri Moreta came on in the ninth to shut Columbus down and secure the Louisville victory and snap a five-game losing streak.

The Bats will take on the Clippers in game two of the six-game series tomorrow night with first pitch set for 6:35 pm E.T. Right-handed pitcher Levi Stoudt (0-2, 7.36) will make the start for Louisville while fellow righty Hunter Gaddis (2-2, 4.45) getting the ball for Columbus.
