Barons Sign Justin Maylan to PTO; Oilers Assign Corey Potter to OKC

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Barons have signed forward Justin Maylan to a PTO, General Manager Bill Scott announced today.

Maylan has scored one assist in two games this season with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL. He registered 40 points (18-22-40) in 49 games with the Stockton Thunder last season. Maylan attended the Barons training camp prior to the 2012-13 campaign. He's played one game in the American Hockey League with the Portland Pirates in 2011-12.

Prior to turning pro, Maylan played five full seasons in the Western Hockey League with Moose Jaw, Prince George and Prince Albert. During those five seasons, he played in 331 games and scored 255 points (87-168-255).

Oklahoma City returns home to take on the Chicago Wolves in a pair of games next weekend at the Cox Convention Center. Faceoff for both games is 7 p.m.

Friday night is Barons night with concession specials featuring $2 draft beer and $1 hot dogs from 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday is the continuation of the largest promotion in Oklahoma sports history when one lucky Barons fan drives away in a brand new vehicle in the Drive Away Every Saturday promotion.

Saturday, is also Crosstown Rivals night. The first 2,000 fans through the doors receive a Barons hat in either OU-colored crimson or OSU-colored orange. There are 1,000 hats of each color.

NOTE: The Edmonton Oilers have assigned defenseman Corey Potter to the Oklahoma City Barons on a conditioning assignment. Potter has registered 25 points (7-18-25) in 95 games with the Oilers over the past two seasons, but has not played this season due to injury. The Lansing, Mich. native was originally drafted by the New York Rangers in the 4th round (122nd overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
