We're grateful for the support that the Lewiston/Auburn community has shown for the Pink in the Rink event over the last two seasons," said Pirates Managing Owner/CEO Brian Petrovek. "Central Maine Medical Center and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer are two great organizations and we're glad that we can host this event to raise awareness and funding in the hopes that they help find a cure for breast cancer."
"Breast cancer survivors are such a courageous group of people, and it has been an honor to help coordinate this event for the past 7 years" said Rita Renaud, RN of Mid Coast Hospital. "We raised over $2,500 this year for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and The American Cancer Society, and will donate it specifically for the fight against breast cancer."
The Pirates have raised over $5,500 for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and the American Cancer Society during the last two Pink in the Rink events, which have both been held at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Jerseys from this year's Pink in the Rink night will be auctioned off at a later date.
The Pirates' next theme night will take place on November 8th when they host the Worcester Sharks for Military Appreciation Night. The Pirates will honor veterans and active duty military personnel throughout the game and wear special military themed jerseys that will be revealed on the Pirates social media at a later date. Military Packs are available with a portion of the proceeds going to the Wounded Heroes Program of Maine .
