Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons have been assigned rookie winger Glenn Olson by their American Hockey League affiliate, the Cleveland Barons. Olson, who has battled injuries much of the season, appeared in just two games for the Barons, registering five penalty minutes. He most recently recorded nine penalty minutes in four games with the Johnstown Chiefs, Cleveland's other ECHL affiliate. The 6-4, 220 lb. forward out of the Western Hockey League was briefly assigned to Fresno earlier this season but never played a game. He will travel with the team to Victoria, British Columbia, today where the Falcons will battle the Salmon Kings tomorrow and Wednesday.

Sam Ftorek has been placed on injured reserve and will miss several weeks of action due to knee surgery. He first injured the knee during a Dec. 20th contest at Las Vegas. Ftorek is expected to make a full recovery and return to the line-up before the regular season ends.

In a third transaction yesterday, Fresno also activated forward Joe Pereira off injured reserve.

After their two games in Victoria, the Falcons return home this Friday, Feb. 18, for a tilt with the San Diego Gulls at Save Mart Center at 7 p.m. The team will be wearing specialty jerseys to honor our nation's military, which will be auctioned off after the game to benefit the American Red Cross. Tickets are now on sale for as low as $8 per seat and may be purchased directly at Save Mart Center's box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497) or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
