Johnstown Chiefs News Release


The Johnstown Chiefs (15-18-11; 41 PTS; 7th North div.) remained in seventh place after losing three straight games on the road last week. Wednesday night they fell 5-2 in Trenton. Saturday night, they were shut out for the first time this season by Toledo and Sunday afternoon suffered their worst loss of the season as they were downed 7-1 by Peoria. This week the Chiefs will play four games beginning Tuesday night at Peoria. They will then play a home and home series with the Dayton Bombers, with games Friday night in Dayton and Saturday night in Johnstown. The Chiefs wrap up the busy week Sunday afternoon at home against the Trenton Titans.

Game #42 (2/9/05) TRENTON 5 - Johnstown 2 Sullivan First Goal of the Season

The Trenton Titans jumped out to a 2-0 lead and would not look back as they defeated the Johnstown Chiefs 5-2. Jeff Sullivan and Mike James scored for the Chiefs. Brent Robinson had a pair of goals for Atlantic City. Chiefs goaltender David Currie suffered the loss making 23 saves.

Game #43 (2/12/05) TOLEDO 3 - Johnstown 0 Cann 33 Saves

Saturday night, the Toledo Storm scored two shorthanded goals en route to a 3-0 shutout over the Johnstown Chiefs. The Storm had eight power play chances in the game, compared to Johnstown's three. Chiefs goaltender David Cann was solid in goal making 33 saves. Scooter Smith had a pair of goals for the Storm.

Game #44 (2/13/05) PEORIA 7 - Johnstown 1 Mather Shorthanded Goal

Sunday afternoon, the Johnstown Chiefs suffered their worst loss since December 4, 2002 as the Peoria Rivermen defeated them 7-1. The Chiefs scored first as Shawn Mather tallied a shorthanded goal just 2:33 into the contest. David Currie (16 saves) started the game for the Chiefs allowing five goals in two and a half periods of play. David Cann allowed two goals and made 9 saves. Colin Hemingway and Brian McCullough each had a pair of goals for the Rivermen. Peoria goaltender Alfie Michaud made 33 saves in the contest.

Tuesday night the Chiefs will play the Peoria Rivermen (22-17-5, 49 PTS; 6th North div.) for the fifth time this season. The Chiefs are 2-2-0 against the Rivermen this season and 23-29-6 all-time. The Rivermen are 7-2-1 in their last ten games.

The Chiefs and Dayton Bombers (16-27-3, 35 PTS; 8th North div.) will play a home and home series beginning Friday night at the Nutter Center. Saturday, the two teams will battle at the War Memorial. The Chiefs are 3-2-1 against the Bombers this season and 47-48-9 all-time. The Bombers are 3-6-1 in their last ten games.

¢ Newly acquired Brian Collins is 13th in the ECHL in scoring with 20 goals and 44 points.

- Jeff Sullivan's goal Wednesday night in Trenton was his first goal since 3/29/2003 vs. Wheeling (78 games).

- Sullivan played his 300th game in a Chiefs uniform in Sunday's 7-1 loss at Peoria.
