
Mississippi Completes Week With Two Sweetheart Finishes

BILOXI, Miss. â The Mississippi Sea Wolves went to extra time in each of the three games last week taking a pair from the South Carolina Stingrays in extra time to finish with a 2-0-1 record in three games.
On Tuesday, Florida outlasted Mississippi 4-3 in the shootout at Germain Arena in Estero. The Sea Wolves slipped past South Carolina 6-5 in the shootout on Friday at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, then on Sunday Mississippi edged the Stingrays 5-4 in overtime.
After 44-of-72 games, the Sea Wolves have compiled a 24-16-4 overall record for 52 points.
Mississippi is in third place in the ECHL South Division and ranks in a tie for sixth with Greenville in the 12-team American Conference, where the top eight teams make the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
The Sea Wolves are 13-10-1 at home, 11-6-3 on the road, 3-2 in overtime games and 4-2 in shootouts.

* Florida's Damian Surma scored the deciding goal in the shootout, while Brent McDonald also tallied in the extra time.
* Everblades goal scorers in regulation were Surma, Matt Hendricks and Simon Tremblay.
* Mississippi picked up tallies from Mike Martone, Jay Legault and Austin Miller.
* Sea Wolves goaltender Phil Sauve made 34 regulation saves and 2-of-4 in the shootout.
* Everblades' Tyler MacKay turned away 32 shots in regulation and went 3-for-3 in saves during the shootout

* Mississippi's Austin Miller netted the deciding goal in the sixth round of the shootout. Sea Wolves' Louis Dumont and Anthony Battaglia also tallied in the shootout. South Carolina's Joe Tenute and Ed Courtenay were successful in the shootout.
* Sea Wolves scorers in regulation were Anthony Battaglia and Louis Dumont with two each and Pat O'Leary.
* Stingrays players registering goals were Matt Reid with two, Ed Courtenay, Brad Parsons and Joe Tenute.
* Mississippi's Phil Sauve made 22 saves in the win.
* South Carolina's Justin Eddy stopped 35 shots.

* Mississippi's Anthony Battaglia scored in overtime on the power-play with 47 seconds remaining.
* Sea Wolves picked up markers from Stephen Greeley, Nicolas Corbeil, John Evangelista and Travis Lisabeth in regulation.
* Stingrays players that notched goals included Brad Parsons with a pair, Mark Ardelan and Marty Clapton.
* Mississippi's Phil Sauve turned aside 34-of-38 to register the win.
* South Carolina's Maxime Daigneault made 40 saves to suffer the overtime setback.

The 25-year-old Battaglia scored two goals in the win over South Carolina on Friday and then capped off the week by netting the game-winning goal in overtime against the Stingrays on Sunday to go along with an assist. Leading Mississippi with three shorthand goals, the 6-foot and 195-pound Battaglia has 17 goals overall, 34 points, a plus/minus of +6 and 28 penalty minutes in 43 games. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Battaglia is in his third professional season and second year with Mississippi.
GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK â Phil Sauve remains unbeaten in regulation for Mississippi, after posting a 2-0-1 record last week. Since signing as a free agent on January 26, the 24-year-old Sauve has posted an overall record of 3-0-1 with a 3.30 goals-against average and save percentage of .904. In 2003-04, the 6-foot and 195-pound Sauve appeared in 17 games with the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League and finished up the campaign with the American Hockey League Hershey Bears. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Sauve, who was born in Buffalo, New York is in his fifth professional hockey season.
