Kalamazoo Wings News Release
KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo Wings had no answer for Josh Archibald, as the forward netted three goals and added an assist to lead the Wheeling Nailers to a 4-1 victory Sunday afternoon.
Coming out flying each team registered a goal in the first 3:15 of action. Increasing his point streak to five games, Gergo Nagy gave the K-Wings the lead by scoring his seventh goal of the season 1:15 into the game with a wrister from the right circle.
Moments later, Wheeling evened the game back up when Archibald flung a wrister off the goal post and into the net for his fourth goal of the campaign.
Immediately following killing a K-Wings penalty midway in the second period, the Nailers went offensive. Just out of the penalty box, Archibald (5th) received a homerun pass out of Wheeling's zone by Tyler Fernandez and buried his second tally of the game on the breakaway chance.
Pulling away in the third period while on a five-on-three power-play, Zach Torquato (11th) scored 3:39 in the period to give the Nailers a three-goal cushion.
Archibald capped off the scoring with an empty-netter for his first pro hat trick.
