Stockton Thunder News Release

Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder received an early lift from forward Vinny Scarsella when he finished off a nice centering feed from Keith Seabrook, but the Thunder couldn't stop the Idaho offensive attack as the game ends with a final score of 5-2 in favor of the Steelheads Sunday night. Tyler Shattock added a goal of his own in the third period on the power play, but it simply wasn't enough to defeat Idaho, as their four-goal first period was ultimately the difference in the score. Quotes

"He's a good goalie and we knew we had to put a lot of shots on net to beat him. We felt like we put some quality shots on but credit him for making the saves." - Vinny Scarsella on facing a tough goaltender in Jack Campbell.

"We have to be quicker to spots and I think Idaho exposed some real weaknesses we have on the penalty kill. I think we were able to put together a couple nice kills this weekend but we definitely need to get back to the drawing board and play more solid on our kill." - Scarsella on the penalty kill's struggles this weekend.

"I thought we had a lot of quality chances and their goalie made the difference tonight. He was really the difference maker for their team all weekend long. Defensively we were a little loose tonight and that was frustrating because their one power-play goal was something we talked about and saw on video. That simply can't happen." - Head Coach Rich Kromm on running into a hot goalie and the team's defensive struggles.

"It could have been but we were better in the third period. We talked about in between periods, identified the issue and we played much better in the third so it can't be fatigue." - Coach Kromm on how only having 14 players dressed effected the outcome.
