Thunder Goes Pink IX Continues Tonight

Thunder Goes Pink IX concludes tonight as the charitable event will end its reign in the Central Valley one final time on pink ice. The Thunder are still searching for their first win on the newest pink ice as the team has only dropped two or more games on the event in 2009-10 when the Alaska Aces came away with an overtime win and a shootout win at Stockton Arena.

Voting Open for 2014-15 ECHL Fantasy Team

The ECHL is giving fans the opportunity to vote for players to comprise the 2014-15 Fantasy Team, of which, one player from each Member Team will be selected to wear a special ECHL Fantasy Team jersey at an upcoming home game.

The Thunder have preselected three players, Garet Hunt, Tyler Maxwell and Jack MacLellan to appear on the team's ballot while fans have the opportunity to also write-in a selection of their choice. The top vote-getter on the Thunder will wear a special fantasy team jersey on Saturday, March 14 when the Thunder play the Idaho Steelheads.

Voting is now open on ECHL.com . Fans are limited to one ballot during the voting period, which runs until 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, Feb. 23. Fans can vote for up to one player on each ECHL Member Team's ballot before hitting the "Cast Vote" button at the bottom of the voting page. The results of the Fantasy Team voting will be announced the week of Feb. 23.

Prep for Pink Weekend

The Thunder have played in 20 games on Stockton Arena Pink ice in the history of the Thunder Goes Pink promotion, which is in its ninth season.

In those 20 games played, the Thunder have posted a 14-3-3 record. This is the third time in the history of the event that the teams will play on pink ice for a three-in-three with the Thunder hosting Bakersfield for three (all Stockton wins) in 2010-11 and hosting Bakersfield and Alaska in the 2012-13 promotion (again all Thunder wins).

The Thunder played the Steelheads one other time on Pink Weekend on November 2 and 3, 2007. Glenn Fisher shutout Idaho on the first night while Brandon Schwartz won it for the Thunder the second night in the 4-0 and 3-2 victories for the Thunder.

Last Time vs. Idaho

With Friday's game featuring just one goal, it looked like both teams found their offense and early too.

Rob Linsmayer got the scoring started but 1:16 later Jack MacLellan scored to tie it up. The Steelheads tacked on two power-play goals and an additional goal in the second before Bryon Paulazzo scored his first ECHL goal to cut the deficit to two.

In the third Idaho increased their lead with two more power-play goals before Tyler Maxwell would score a power-play marker for the Thunder. Stockton fell 6-3.

Tonight

The Thunder will hope to snap a streak of three losses prior to embarking on a seven-game road trip that sees the team head to West Valley City, Utah, then to Boise, Idaho and finally to Ontario, California. After tonight's game only eight home games remain in the Thunder's season, and only 19 games total. The team will have to win as often as possible to attempt to get back in the playoff race as a total of 38 points are up for grabs after tonight's game.

The team is 23 points back of the fourth and final playoff spot in the Pacific Division.

Who to Watch

After missing Friday's game, Tyler Shattock came right back into the lineup and picked up right where he left off, picking up points, throwing his body around, and getting Stockton Arena pumped up.

The winger will have an assist credited to him on Jack MacLellan's first goal that wasn't initially given while the former St. Louis Blues draft pick also assisted on Tyler Maxwell's power-play goal at the end of the game. His two points put him one ahead of MacLellan for the team lead with 39. He also leads the team with 12 multi-point efforts.

Keep an eye on Shattock as he picked up the points last night, was not out on the ice for a goal against, and had a fight to boot.

All-Time Watch

The scoring situation between Garet Hunt, Ryan Constant and Mike Lalonde is in danger of falling to one of the Thunder's star players very soon.

Lalonde's 156 career Thunder points is in jeopardy as Garet Hunt pulled within 2 points of the tying the record with 154 while Ryan Constant sits right behind him at 151.

Both Hunt and Constant have missed time due to injuries this season as Hunt missed 11 games while Constant was placed on Injured Reserve on December 14.

Hunt is the only one close to Lalonde's all-time record of 72 goals with his 60 markers, putting the Thunder captain 12 shy of tying the record.

Interesting Fact

Bryon Paulazzo scored his first ECHL goal for what might as well be his hometown team. Barring the wonderful California traffic, Paulazzo's hometown of Redwood City is about an hour and 30 minutes away from Stockton Arena.
