Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans defeated the Rapid City Rush 4-3 on Friday night at Allen Event Center in a wild affair.
The Americans jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Ian Schultz and Gary Steffes, for Steffes his 19th of the season and 99th of his career. The Rush came right back and tied the score before the end of the period with an even strength goal and a power play goal to tie the game at 2-2 after one.
The Rush grabbed the lead in the second on a power play goal by Landon Oslanski, his 5th of the year from Daniel Tetrault and Jesse Schultz. The Americans tied the game, just over a minute later, when Jack Combs fired a back-hander top shelf for his ECHL leading 21st of the season. The period was also filled with penalty minutes on both sides. Garrett Clarke was given a five minute major and a game misconduct for a hit on Johnathan Narbonne. Narbonne was down on the ice for several minutes before the medical staff was called on the ice for assistance. He was taken to Medical Center of Plano where he was conscious and responsive.
The win was the second in a row for Allen over Rapid City, as the Americans improved to 21-5-1-2 and eight points up on second place Quad City. The Americans are back home on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 pm against the Wichita Thunder.
