BATTLING THE BEAST

The Oilers face off against the Beast in the second of eight meetings this season. In the only previous clash of the season, Tulsa earned a 4-1 win on home ice over Brampton on December 12. Oilers forwards Kyle O'Kane, Drew Fisher, Adam Pleskach, and Luke Judson each recorded two points and Brady Hjelle picked up his first ECHL win with a 33-save performance. Both squads have struggled since the first contest as the Oilers have managed just one win in their last eight outings while the Beast has dropped seven of its last nine games. The Oilers are 5-2-0 all-time against the Beast and boast a flawless 4-0-0 record at the BOK Center.

SOUR NOTE TO END 2014

Tuesday night at the BOK Center, the Oilers jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead but surrendered five unanswered goals in a disappointing 5-3 loss to the Rapid City Rush. Tulsa was outscored 4-0 in the third period and outshot 20-8 over the final frame. Oilers' rookie center Jeff Jubinville posted the first multi-goal game of his career and Adam Pleskach chipped in three assists in the setback. Daniel Barczuk led the Rush with three points (2 goals, 1 assist) as Rapid City improved to 2-1 in Tulsa this season.

DECEMBER TO FORGET

After earning points in 13 of their first 18 contests through the first two months of the season, the Oilers were able to win only four out of 14 games in December. Tulsa suffered through a season-long six-game losing streak and went 0-4-0 on the road during the final month of 2014. With four games left before the mid-point of the season, the Oilers sit in fourth place in the Central Division standings and hold a narrow two-point lead on the Missouri Mavericks.

TERRIFIC TRIO

Over the last five games, the Oilers line of Jeff Jubinville, Drew Fisher, and Adam Pleskach has been responsible for nearly 50-percent of Tulsa's total point production. Fisher and Pleskach are both riding five-game point streaks and have each notched eight points in the last five contests. Jubinville, who played college hockey with Fisher at Bemidji State University, has four goals and three assists in his last five outings and is tied for the team lead with a +7 rating for the season.

SPECIAL TEAMS UPS AND DOWNS

The Oilers have four power play goals in their last three games and have scored on the man-advantage in three consecutive contests. The three-game span is Tulsa's second-most productive power play stretch of the season and has pushed the Oilers to 23 rd in the ECHL rankings at 12.8-percent for the season. However, as the power play rises, the penalty kill continues to slowly slip. The Oilers have allowed four power play goals in the last two games and have given up at least one power play goal to the opposition in five of their last six games.

OIL DROPS

The Oilers welcomed 6.838 to the BOK Center on Tuesday, the second-largest crowd of the season...Nathan Lutz is playing in his 799 th career game tonight vs. Brampton...Tulsa has allowed four goals or more in 10 of its last 14 games and has the fourth-highest goals against average in the ECHL at 3.81...The Oilers have not posted a winning record in the month of January since going 8-3-0 in January of 2011.
