All-Stars swapped in four-player deal

Greenville Grrrowl News Release


GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL have announced that CHRIS LYNCH (F) and ERIC LIND (D) have been traded to the Reading Royals of the ECHL. In return, Greenville receives JONATHAN ZION (D) and NICK LENT (F).

ZION (6-0, 205lb., defenseman) was selected to play in the recent 2004 ECHL All-Star Game in Peoria, IL. He has played in 29 games in Reading this season along with 8 games in Manchester of the AHL. Jonathan has totaled 6 goals, 24 assists and 18 penalty minutes during the 2003-04 season. Zion was a 4th round selection by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.

LENT (6-4, 225lb, forward) was an 8th round selection in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes, and has played 44 games with Reading this season, totaling 17 points (7G, 10A) and 51 penalty minutes. The Grrrowl have faced Lent in the past couple of season when was in Columbus and Richmond. Lent played collegiate hockey at Providence College from 1996-2000.

Chris Lynch had played in 40 games with the Grrrowl this season, plus two games with the AHL's Bridgeport Soundtigers just prior to being selected as Greenville's representative in the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game. Chris was Greenville's leading scorer with 40 points (21G, 19 A) and had totaled 85 penalty minutes. Eric Lind arrived in Greenville on December 16, 2003 after starting the year in Manchester England with the Phoenix. During his stay in Greenville, Eric played in 18 games, totaling 6 points and 25 penalty minutes.

The Grrrowl travel to Columbia to face the Inferno on Thursday evening, and will play the Gwinnett Gladiators back-to-back this weekend, with a road game on Friday and in the BI-LO Center on Saturday.
