
San Diego's Koenig Named ITECH HOCKEY ECHL Saver of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - San Diego goaltender Trevor Koenig is the ITECH HOCKEY ECHL Saver of the Week for January 26-February 1.
Koenig went 3-0-0 with a 1.95 goals against average and a .939 save percentage in three games. He extended his winning streak to seven games while helping San Diego extend its winning streak to an ECHL season-high nine games and its home winning streak to an ECHL season-high 11 games.
After making 33 saves in a 5-2 win at Las Vegas on January 27, Koenig
stopped all six shooters in the shootout and made 31 saves as the Gulls
beat Idaho 3-2 in a shootout on January 30. The 5-10 and 185-pound Koenig
made 28 saves in a 4-2 win against Bakersfield on January 31.
Koenig, who was runner up for ITECH HOCKEY ECHL Saver of the Week for
January 19-25, has improved to 22-5-3 while lowering his goals against
average from 2.48 to 2.28 and raising his save percentage from .909 to
.918. He leads the ECHL in shootout percentage with .853 and is tied for
the league lead with four shootout wins while ranking second in wins with
22 and tied for second in shutouts with three. He is seventh in the league
in goals against average with 2.28.
In his fourth season with San Diego, Koenig has won 20-or-more games in
each of his past four seasons, including a career-high 42 wins in 2001-02,
and he helped San Diego win the West Coast Hockey League Championship in
2001 and 2003. Koenig is 121-44-14 with 17 shutouts, a 2.38 goals against
average and a .916 save percentage in 185 career regular season games with
the Gulls.

pct.) and Mike Valley, Peoria (2-0-0, 1.50 GAA, .944 save pct.).
