
Gladiators Bite Everblades, 5-3

The Gwinnett Gladiators used goals from five different scorers to knock off the Florida Everblades 5-3, Tuesday afternoon in Florida to snap a 4 game winless streak and improve to 24-16-4 on the season.
Keith Anderson opened the scoring at 13:37 of the opening period to give the Everblades a 1-0 lead as he slipped along the goal line and pushed a rebound past Gladiators netminder Trevor Prior. Carl Mallette added an assist as he fed Anderson in the corner to set of the play.
The Gladiators tied the contest up 54 seconds later on Rick Emmett's ninth goal of the season. Emmett picked up a loose puck in the high slot and ripped it over an outstretched Florida netminder Rob Zepp. David Kaczowka and Chris Durno added assists on the goal.
Kevin Doell gave the Gladiators a 2-1 lead late in the second period as he jammed a wrap around past Zepp. Blue Bennefield hooked up with Paul Flache to set up the play at 16:43 of the period.
Phil Lewandowski pushed the Gladiators lead to two goals as he took a pass from Anthony Aquino in the high slot and ripped a slap shot that deflected off of Zepp's shoulder and into the back of the net. Brandon Dietrich also added an assist on the goal at 17:16 of the second period.
Cam Brown rounded out the scoring in the middle stanza as he one handedly worked the puck out of the corner and flipped it over the shoulder of Zepp at 18:39 of the period. Kevin Doell and Blue Bennefield added the assists on the goal.
The Gladiators extended their lead to 5-1 on a 2-on-1 shorthanded break as Kevin Doell fed Kris Goodjohn for the goal. Paul Flache also added an assist on the goal at 4:10 of the third period.
Florida chipped away at the Gladiators lead as Brandon Coalter slipped a puck through the legs of Prior at 5:53 of the third period to cut the Gladiators lead to 5-2. Chris Heistein and Gary Shaneberger added the assists on the goal.
Chad Larose apitalized on a Gladiators defensive miscue and was left alone in the slot and slipped a puck past Prior at 17:26 of the period. Florida could get no closer as Chris Thompson added an assist on the goal.
Trevor Prior made 21 saves and picks up his first win as a Gladiator in the contest.
