
Alfaro, Abreu Lead WooSox to Win Over IronPigs

ALLENTOWN, P.A. - After trailing going into the seventh inning, the Worcester Red Sox (7-8) came from behind to beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (5-10) by a 6-2 final on Tuesday night at Coca-Cola Park.
Worcester scored the game's first run on a Bobby Dalbec RBI groundout in the third inning.
Lehigh Valley took the lead in the fourth. Jim Haley tied the game with a run-scoring triple. Three batters later, Vimael Machin singled in Haley to put the IronPigs on top 2-1.
The score remained that way until the seventh. With two outs and the bases loaded, Wilyer Abreu took a walk to tie the game. Jorge Alfaro then hit a bases-clearing double to right to put Worcester ahead 5-2.
Abreu launched a 409-foot home run over the right field fence in the ninth to make it a 6-2 ballgame.
In his third start of the season, Bryan Mata tossed five innings, allowing two runs on four hits. Mata walked four and struck out six.
David Hamilton extended his hitting streak to eight with a 2-for-4 performance.
Greg Allen (1-for-2, HBP, BB, R) stole two bases. Allen and Hamilton are now tied for the International League lead with eight stolen bases.
Niko Goodrum extended his on-base streak to eight games with his infield single in the fourth. Goodrum was 1-for-4.
