THE WEEK THAT WAS:

Wednesday, Devils 3 vs. Norfolk 6

Matt Anderson had two goals, but the Devils were stymied by Norfolk, 6-3. The Admirals used four goals in the first period starting a 6:23 and then added to their lead with three goals in a span of 1:35. Anderson put Albany on the board with 49.9 remaining and Nick Palmieri made it 4-2 at 3:13 of the second. Anderson added his second late, at 15:42 of the period. Norfolk closed out the game with two goals in the second half of the game.

Friday, Devils 0 vs. Syracuse 3

The Devils hit four posts and witnessed two power-play goals against in a 3-0 loss to Syracuse. Jeff Frazee made 16 savse in his third-straight start. Syracuse struck twice on a five-on-three power play at the end of the first period and at the start of the second. Dan Sexton completed his three-point night with a goal to make it 3-0 at 7:44 of the third period.

Saturday, Devils 2 at Portland 5

Despite goals from Matt Anderson and Nathan Perkovich, the Devils lost at first-place Portland, 5-2. Anderson netted his sixth goal of the season, cleaning up a rebound to give Albany an early 1-0 lead. The Pirates responded with four-straight goals until Perkovich found the back of the net midway through the third period. Mike McKenna made 27 stops in the setback.

NOTABLES:

-- After Tuesday's game against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the Devils hit the road for a four-game road trip. Albany is 4-2-0-0 on the road this season and its .667 road winning percentage ranks fifth in the Eastern Conference.

-- Since returning to the Devils' lineup after missing the first four games, Matt Anderson has posted a team-high tying eight points with a team-best six goals. In the last six games, Anderson has netted five goals.

-- The Devils' 3-0 loss to Syracuse marked the first time the team was shutout at home since a 1-0 outcome against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Feb. 20, 2010.

Tuesday, Devils vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (7:00 p.m.)

The Penguins have the highest winning percentage in the league with a .846 showing. In 13 games, they've posted an 11-2-0-0 record with losses to Syracuse (4-3) on Nov. 6 and to Binghamton (5-1) on Nov. 12. The team started the season with nine-straight victories. Brad Thiessen and John Curry shared October's AHL Goaltender of the Month honors. So far this season, Thiessen is 7-0-0-0 with a 1.84 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage, while Curry is 4-2-0-0 with a 2.64 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage.

Friday, Devils at Syracuse (7:30 p.m.)

These two teams will be meeting for the third time this season. The Crunch took the first two outings, 3-2, on Oct. 30 and, 3-0, on Nov. 12. Syracuse is currently in sixth place in the East Division with a 6-5-1-2 mark. The team is led by Nicolas Deschamps, who has 10 points and a team-high tying seven goals. Trevor Smith is second on the team among active players with nine points, including seven assists.

Saturday, Devils at Rochester (7:35 p.m.)

In 17 games this season, the Americans have posted an 8-8-1-0 record, including a 6-4 win at Albany on Nov. 6. They are currently on a two-game losing streak and host Hamilton on Friday. Michal Repik leads the team and is tied for second in the AHL with 22 points. He has posted four goals and a league-high tying 18 assists. Bill Thomas is second on the team with 16 points, including six goals and 10 assists.
