Worcester Sharks News Release

WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester Sharks President Michael A. Mudd along with Abigail Williams, the principle of the Law Firm of Abigail Williams and Associates, announced that the "Be A Leader" program will visit the Boys and Girls Club of Worcester at 65 Tainter Street on Wednesday, November 17th from 3:30-4:30p.m.

Now in its fourth season, the "Be A Leader" program is designed to provide students in grades 4-6 with leadership tips to enrich their lives as well as others around them. Sharks defenseman Nick Petrecki and goaltender Alex Stalock, in addition to Finz, the Sharks' mascot, will be present along with the principle of the Law Firm of Abigail Williams and Associates, Abigail Williams.

Petrecki, a former first round NHL Draft choice by the San Jose Sharks, and Stalock, an AHL All-Star goaltender, will take the lead at the after school program, addressing the students and sharing their insights on school bullying in part of AWA's Step Up and Stop It campaign.

"Our players and staff have all been trained to help prevent school bullying," said Mudd. "It's not every day that professional athletes visit with after school programs. It's a fun way to help guide students to make the right decision in everyday life and help put a stop to bullying."

Each participant in the program receives one ticket to an upcoming 2010-11 regular season Sharks home game and a "Be A Leader" educational booklet compliments of the Law Firm of Abigail Williams and Associates.

Abigail Williams & Associates and the Sharks created the "Be A Leader" program in an effort to contribute to the quality of life for children in the community. Be A Leader also includes an effort to curb bullying, part of AWA's Step Up & Stop It campaign. Internationally recognized bullying expert Barbara Coloroso conducted a training session with Sharks players, coaches and staff and AWA staff, who will put Coloroso's lessons into action in a series of upcoming presentations at Boys & Girls Clubs after school programs.
