Utah Grizzlies News Release

West Valley City, Utah - The Alaska Aces defeated the Utah Grizzlies 2-1 in a shootout Saturday night at Maverik Center.

Utah goaltender Grant Rollheiser stopped 36 of 37 shots through overtime and the Grizzlies killed all six shorthanded situations to have a chance for the standings point they collected.

The Grizzlies fell behind 1-0 in the second period, but tied it with 49 seconds left in the game as Brad Mills hacked in his team-leading 13th goal of the year with new Calgary line mates Adam Estoclet and David Eddy picking up assists in their Grizzlies debuts.

Eddy and Michael Ferland, who also made his Utah debut tonight, made their presence known early as they dropped the gloves for first period fights.

"To be honest, that's the most enjoyable game I've been a part of this year," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley. "Boy did those guys from Calgary come down and do a heck of a job. They introduced themselves in a great way and they were never asked to drop the mitts, but did they ever make a great impression."

Rollheiser stopped 15 shots from the third period through overtime as Utah killed a late penalty in overtime to have a chance at a shootout.

Alaska won the shootout 2-0 as they scored in the first two rounds and Alaska goaltender Mark Guggenberger denied all four Utah attempts.

The Grizzlies return home Wednesday and Friday to host Idaho and Las Vegas at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday is Ski Industry Night and our first Wild $2 Wednesday. A set of Grizzlies skis and other ski equipment will be given away to fans at the game. In addition there will be $2 Hot Dogs, $2 Fries, $2 Soft Drinks and $2 Draft Beers plus $5 student tickets.
