
Stingrays Fall in Overtime to Gladiators

North Charleston, S.C. -The South Carolina Stingrays (13-13-1-3) fell in overtime to the Gwinnett Gladiators (19-7-1-0) 3-2 at the North Charleston Coliseum Saturday evening.
Gladiators forward Evan Bloodoff opened the scoring at 12:37 of the first period tapping a bouncing puck past the glove of Stingrays goaltender Jeff Jakaitis (OTL, 30 saves on 33 shots). The Stingrays responded less than two minutes later on the power play with forward Matthew Pistilli's sixth goal of the season at 14:36 from forward Hunter Bishop and defenseman Luka Vidmar.
Forward Andrew Cherniwchan put the Stingrays on top with .7 seconds left in the second period tipping a shot from defenseman Kevin Quick past the left pad of Gladiators netminder Louis Domingue (W, 20 saves on 22 shots). Forward Tyler McNeely added the second assist.
With the Domingue pulled for the extra skater, Gladiators forward Tyler Murovich forced overtime at 19:38 of the final period. In the extra session, forward Casey Pierro-Zabotel buried his ninth tally of the season off a rebound to complete the comeback for the Gladiators. The Stingrays ended the contest 1-for-3 on the power play while the Gladiators went 0-for-4.
The Stingrays kick off a four-game road trip Friday, December 21 against the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:35 p.m. at U.S. Bank Arena and return to the Coliseum on Saturday, December 29 at 7:05 p.m. to host the Wheeling Nailers.
