Ads Continue Busy Stretch with Four Games this Week

OVERALL...The Admirals enter this week's action with an 18-12-1-5 record and 42 points, good for a second place tie in the tightly packed West Division where the five teams in second through sixth place are separated by just four points. The Ads join Rockford and Peoria in a three-way tie for second place with 42 points, followed closely by Houston at 40 and Chicago with 38. The Ads have dropped three straight games and four in a row on the road. Milwaukee will hit the ice for four games this week, beginning with the final contest of a three game road trip Tuesday in Cleveland against Lake Erie. The Admirals have home contests on Thursday versus San Antonio and Saturday against Toronto before finishing up the week in Peoria on Sunday afternoon.

SHOOT-OUT STRUGGLES...The Admirals saw their struggles in the shoot-out this season continue Saturday in Toronto as the team lost for the fifth time this year in the shoot-out, with no wins. The troubles seem to stem from both sides as Milwaukee is converting on just 21% of their tries, while stopping just 10 of 22 shots against. The last time the Admirals won a game in a shoot-out was April 8, 2009 in Peoria.

THE FIRST TIME...Former Admiral forward Andreas Thuresson picked a good time for his first NHL goal. The third year pro tallied the game-tying goal at the 12:39 mark of the third period as Nashville squeaked out a 2-1 overtime win against Columbus on Thursday night. Thuresson, who was recalled last Saturday night, now shows three points (1g-2a) in 14 games with the Predators this season, the first NHL action of his career. With the Admirals he has 13 points (6g-7a) in 20 games this season.

BEST OF TIMES, WORST OF TIMES...The Admirals went from the penthouse to the outhouse in the matter of just one game. On Tuesday night the Ads posted a season high seven goals and also their largest margin of victory on the year (6). Then game Friday against Houston where the Ads gave up six goals, the second most tallies they had given up this season and lost by four, which is also the second largest margin of defeat for the team.

INCREASINGLY OFFENSIVE...Heading into last week's action Admirals forwards Mark Santorelli and Ben Guite had each notched eight points on the season. However, in the team's five games last week they have combined to total 14 points with Guite posting three goals and five assists and Santorelli chipping in with three goals and three helpers. Guite, whose eight points was tops in the league last week, is now fifth on the team with 16 points (4g-11a), while Santorelli is sixth with 14 points (7g-7a) and leads the team with five power-play markers.

LIGHTING THE LAMP...The seven goals that the Admirals scored on Tuesday night were the most they have posted this season and it was the first time they have hit seven on the scoreboard since a 7-2 win in Peoria on February 2, 2008. The last time that Milwaukee notched at least seven goals in a home game was an 8-1 win over Quad City on October 24, 2007. In their last four games the Admirals have recorded 17 goals, their highest output of the season for any four-game stretch.

GETTING THE CALL...The Predators have recalled forward Mike Santorelli and defenseman Alexander Sulzer from the Admirals. Santorelli has suited up for 22 NHL contests this season, posting three points (2g-1a). The Vancouver, B.C., native scored his first NHL goal on Oct. 28 at Minnesota, and collected his first career assist two games later on Oct. 31 vs. Dallas. This is Santorelli's third stint with the Predators and he also 17 points (9g-8a) in 15 games for the Admirals. Sulzer has notched one assist in 11 games with the Predators in 2009-10. In 12 games at the AHL level this season, he has 13 points (2g-11a), including three points in the Ads wins over Rockford and Grand Rapids earlier this week. Sulzer was also named to Germany's 2010 Olympic team on Wednesday.

SPREADING THE WEALTH...Tuesday's win over Rockford saw seven different Admirals light the lamp and 16 different players find their way onto the scoresheet. This was the first time since a 9-3 win over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks on November 18, 2004 that the team has had seven players find the back of the net and it was the most number of skaters to accumulate a point in one game since the team joined the AHL in 2001.

ALL-STAR CALIBER...Admirals Center Cal O'Reilly has been selected to skate in the 2010 AHL All-Star Classic as a member of the Canadian All-Star Team. In 29 games so far this season with the Ads, O'Reilly has posted nine goals and 26 assists for 35 points to go along with a +16 rating. The Toronto, ON native leads the team in scoring and is third in the Western Conference in spite of missing seven games while on recall with the Predators. O'Reilly recently had a nine-game point streak ended, which tied for the league high for the year. In his fourth season with the Admirals, O'Reilly has totaled 248 points (56g-192a) in 256 career games. Since Milwaukee joined the AHL in 2001 he is the franchise leader in assists and is second in points.

GETTING BUSY...The Admirals are in the midst of a daunting stretch of their schedule that includes their busiest month of the season. Tuesday's game in against Lake Erie is the fourth of 17 games in the month of January with ten on the road and seven at the Bradley Center. Besides four days in the year's first month set aside for the AHL All-Star Break, Milwaukee has just three days this month where they aren't playing a game or traveling.
