Moose Notes
WELCOMING A NEW YEAR: Starting with Saturday's game against the Texas Stars, the Moose will play 13 games in the month of January. Only five of those games will be played at MTS Centre while the Moose will play the rest on the road - including a six-game trip from January 22 to 31, 2010. Last season the Moose kicked off the 2009 calendar year with three consecutive losses en-route to finishing 10-4-0-2. Since joining the AHL, Manitoba's best January record was in 2004-05 when the team went 11-2-0-3 for 25 of 32 points.
ANOTHER ASSIST FOR THE 'TENDER: Along with stopping 34 of 36 shots for first star honours on Thursday night, goaltender Cory Schneider also earned an assist. The third-year netminder earned a helper on Michael Grabner's second period game winner in a 3-2 victory against the Stars. This is Schneider's second assist this season and second in his professional career. His first was on November 21, 2009 vs. Hamilton (4-5L). Freddy Brathwaite holds the franchise record for most assists by a goaltender with five in one season (1996-97). He also scored a goal in that same season.
Upcoming Opponents
For the first time since the 2009 Calder Cup Finals, the Moose will face-off against the Hershey Bears this weekend at MTS Centre.
