Benson Released From Tryout

Portland, Maine - The Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League announced today that they have released Hans Benson from his tryout contract.

The 26 year-old forward played only one game in his second stint of the season with the Pirates. Benson, who will rejoin Cincinnati of the ECHL, has recorded no points and 35 minutes in penalties in 11 games with the Pirates this season.

The Pirates (18-13-4-2 and winners of two straight) complete a five-game road trip next weekend when they travel to Binghamton Friday (7:05 p.m.), Adirondack Saturday (7 p.m.) and Worcester Sunday afternoon (3:05 p.m.). All three games can be heard live on News Talk WLOB 95.5 FM and on-line at www.portlandpirates.com beginning with the pre-game show 15 minutes prior to the opening face-off.

The next Pirates home game will be played Tuesday, January 12th when the Lowell Devils visit the CCCC on Two for Tuesday. Fans can purchase two tickets for only $22. Plus, area establishments such as the new Binga's Stadium's Smokehouse & Sports Bar and Brian Boru's will be offering great specials before and after the game in celebration of Pirates Tuesday action.
