River Rats Release Matt Schepke From PTO

ALBANY, NY-The Albany River Rats announced today that forward Matt Schepke has been released from his Professional Tryout contract. Schepke will return to the Charlotte Checkers of the East Coast Hockey League. Schepke, 24, played in one game for Albany after being signed to a PTO on Friday, January 1st. The Warren, Michigan native has 10 goals and seven assists (17 points) in 28 games this season for Charlotte. Schepke (5'11", 196 lbs.) also scored six goals and added three assists (nine points) in twelve games last season with the Checkers, after completing a three year career at Michigan State University. The undrafted forward made his American Hockey League debut at the end of the season, playing in one game for the Hartford WolfPack.

Albany plays Game Seven of the Time Warner Cable Cup series against the Phantoms this Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Times Union Center.
