
Admirals Get Redemption After Record-Setting Loss

NORFOLK, VA - The Admirals faced the Lowell Lock Monsters twice this past weekend, with each team recording a decisive victory over the other. On January 6th, four different Lock Monsters netted two goals as Lowell became the first team ever to notch nine goals against Norfolk in a 9-2 final. The next evening, Norfolk fired 53 shots on net, and six Admirals lit the lamp as they rebounded to down Lowell 6-1.
Norfolk hosts Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the last time this season on Friday before beginning a six-game road tilt at Hershey on Sunday.
STANDINGS
At 16-14-2-2 (36 pts), Norfolk is currently fourth in the East. The division is led by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (29-4-2-1, 61 pts) followed by Hershey in second (22-8-2-6, 52 pts) and Bridgeport in third (18-18-2-1, 39 pts). Binghamton (15-19-2-2, 34 pts) and Philadelphia (15-21-0-3, 33 pts) trail the Admirals.

TEAM NOTEBOOK
- Norfolk's 6-1 victory over Lowell on January 7th marked the first time in five games (since December 28th) that the squad netted more than two goals in a game.
- The Admirals posted 53 shots on net on the 7th for a new franchise record for most shots in one game. That mark had previously been broken on December 31st at Binghamton when the Ads took 52 shots.
- The win on January 7th was just the sixth game this season in which the Admirals carried a lead after one period of play.
- Norfolk's 9-2 loss to Lowell on January 6th included the most goals ever scored against the Admirals in their AHL history. The seven-goal differential was also the largest losing margin in club history.
- Norfolk is 4-0-1-0 this season when an Admiral scores shorthanded.
- On January 7th, Ajay Baines tied Marty Wilford for Norfolk's all-time scoring lead with his 173rd career point.
- Milan Bartovic skated in his 300th AHL career game on January 6th.
- Mike D'Alessandro was released from his professional tryout contract following the game on January 7th.

- Wednesday, January 11th - Admirals Ajay Baines, Mike Brown, Carl Corazzini and Corey Crawford will present a youth hockey skills clinic at The IcePlex in Yorktown.
