
Christensen Returns, Koltsov Called

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Pittsburgh Penguins have returned center Erik Christensen on loan to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and have recalled right wing Konstantin Koltsov, it was announced today by General Manager Craig Patrick.
Christensen, 21, was promoted to Pittsburgh on October 31 after recording 19 points (9+10) in nine games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to start the season. The second-year pro was named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 23, and was ranked third in the league in points and goals at the time of his recall.
Christensen made his NHL debut against the New Jersey Devils on November 1, and recorded his first NHL goal two nights later against the New York Islanders. He recorded 12 points (6+6), 32 penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in 29 games with the NHL Penguins.
Pittsburgh's third round choice (69th overall) in the 2002 Entry Draft, Christensen recorded 27 points (14+13) in 77 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season.
Koltsov, 24, has recorded 12 points (7+5), 13 penalty minutes and a plus-9 rating in 18 games since being assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on November 22. His seven goals are tied for ninth on the team, while his three game-winning goals were tied for first.
The former first round choice (18th overall in 1999) began the season with Pittsburgh, recording one assist in 20 games with the NHL Penguins. Koltsov has recorded 30 points (9+21) and 40 penalty minutes in 104 games with Pittsburgh during parts of three seasons, and has 46 points (16+30) in 167 regular season games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
