Milwaukee, WI- Milwaukee, WI- The Milwaukee Admirals tied the game with 39 seconds left in regulation on Roman Josi's second goal of the season, but fell to the Oklahoma City Barons in a shootout Thursday night at the Bradley Center, ending their five game home winning streak.
Josi scored his first power play goal of the season late in the third marking the first time the Admirals have scored a game-tying goal in the last minute of regulation this year, however it wasn't enough as the Baron's Colin McDonald scored as their fifth and final shooter to earn give OKC a 2-1 decision in the shoot-out.
Mark Van Guilder gave Milwaukee the early lead at 2:34 of the first period. Mike Bartlett fed the puck to Ryan Flynn, who found Van Guilder between the circles. Van Guilder tipped the puck past the glove of Barons' goaltender Martin Gerber, giving him his first goal since October 16.
Oklahoma City got on board at 16:29 of the second period with a rebound goal by Milan Kytnar. Teemu Hartikainen centered the puck to Philippe Cornet, who fired a shot, which was deflected by Dekanich and picked up by Kytnar who put the puck in, to tie the game at one.
At 1:36 of the third period Andreas Thuresson put the Admirals up 2-1. Aaron Johnson threw the puck into the crease from behind the net where it was knocked away by Steve Begin and picked up by Thuresson who backhanded it through a forest of legs and past Gerber.
However, less than two minutes later, Oklahoma City tied the game again with a power play goal by Anthony Aiello. Moran passed the puck to Aiello who sent a wrister past a screened Dekanich. Giroux also picked up an assist on the tally.
At 18:40 of the third period, Kytnar scored his second goal of the night on the rebound to give the Barons a 3-2 lead. Cornet and Hartikainen both notched their second assist of the night.
With 40 seconds remaining in regulation and Milwaukee on the power play, Josi tied the game at three. From the right point Linus Klasen passed the puck to Jonathon Blum who fired a shot that broke his stick. Josi picked up the loose puck from the bottom of the left circle and found the back of the net, giving him his second goal of the season.
The Admirals were 1-5 on their shootout attempts with Klasen scoring the only goal giving him the team high of five shootout goals on the season, while Oklahoma City's Kytnar and McDonald converted on their attempts to secure the win.
