LOOKING AHEAD:
Red-hot Norfolk kicks off a four-game road trip in Binghamton tonight before heading north to Syracuse on Saturday night... The Admirals enter riding a four-game winning streak, their longest such run since beginning the season with four consecutive victories... These teams have not met since Oct. 9, when Norfolk earned a 7-4 victory... Rookie defenseman Radko Gudas has netted the game-winning goal in each of Norfolk's past two contests after totaling just one score in 37 outings prior to that... Paul Szczechura (2-4-6), Blair Jones (3-2-5), Troy Milam (1-3-4), and James Wright (0-4-4) all have a point in three of their last four games for the Admirals, who hold a two-point edge on Charlotte for second place in the East Division... Binghamton has used a 6-2-0-0 surge in its last eight games to pull one point ahead of Worcester for the Eastern Conference's final playoff spot... Senators forward Ryan Keller has netted a goal in three straight games (3-0-3) and five of his last six (5-1-6)... Kaspars Daugavins is on a four-game assist streak (0-5-5) for Binghamton, and Erik Condra shows a point in three of his last four tilts (1-3-4).
An intra-state battle pits Texas against Houston tonight at the Toyota Center... The fourth-place Aeros, who will play in Cleveland on Saturday and Toronto on Sunday to close the weekend, are on a five-game points streak (4-0-0-1) and are one point up on the Stars in the tight West Division race... Houston has taken five of six meetings with Texas thus far (5-1-0-0), including all three on home ice... Aeros forwards Jon DiSalvatore (4-2-6) and Warren Peters each show six points in the season series, and goaltender Anton Khudobin is a perfect 4-0-0 (2.55, .916) vs. Texas... Former AHL rookie of the year Patrick O'Sullivan shows 2-1-3 in two games since joining the Aeros from parent-club Minnesota... The Stars are just 2-3-1-0 in their last six contests and are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to Grand Rapids on Tuesday... Stars forward Colton Sceviour boasts a four-game scoring run (2-2-4) and has collected a team-high six points (2-4-6) against Houston this season... Brandon Segal has a goal in each of his last two outings (2-0-2) for Texas, which is an impressive 10-1-3-2 in one-goal games this season.
Winners of three straight games - including back-to-back shutouts - Hamilton travels to Hartford tonight for the first of two clashes with the Connecticut Whale this season... 2011 AHL All-Star goaltender Curtis Sanford (16-7-1, 1.67, .940) has stopped all 44 shots he's faced over Hamilton's past two games... Ryan Russell posted a season-high three points (1-2-3) in the Bulldogs' 7-0 victory over Rochester on Tuesday... With top two scorers David Desharnais (10-35-45) and Max Pacioretty (17-15-32) on NHL recall, Ben Maxwell is now Hamilton's leading active scorer with 26 points (6-20-26) in 33 contests... Whale forward Chad Kolarik racked up four points (2-2-4) in last Sunday's 6-3 win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton after going scoreless in his previous four outings... Defenseman Michael Del Zotto shows four assists in six games since joining Connecticut from the parent N.Y. Rangers... Connecticut enters with the AHL's fifth-best power play (20.8 percent), while Hamilton ranks fifth on the penalty kill (86.1 percent)... The Bulldogs won both of these teams' meetings in 2009-10.
