Grand Rapids Griffins News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Friday recalled goaltender Jordan Pearce (right) from the Grand Rapids Griffins and assigned goaltender Joey MacDonald to their AHL affiliate.

The 24-year-old Pearce, who earned the first NHL call-up of his career, shows a 5-3-1 record with a 3.00 goals against average and a team-high 0.904 save percentage in 11 contests with the Griffins. He has appeared in six straight games for Grand Rapids, and he earned a 3-1 record with a 2.19 GAA and a 0.933 save percentage during the team's recent four-game Texas swing.

Pearce has also logged eight games with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye this season, going 3-4-1 with one shutout, a 4.13 GAA and a 0.883 save percentage.

MacDonald, 30, is 1-2-1 record with a team-best 2.53 GAA and a 0.903 save percentage through five appearances with the Wings this season. Last Saturday, he made 25 saves in Detroit's 6-5 overtime victory against Columbus, marking his first NHL win since Dec. 3, 2009 and his first victory as a Red Wing since Feb. 11, 2007.

The Griffins' all-time leader in wins (98) and shutouts (17), MacDonald needs four more appearances to tie Howard's 186 as the most for a goalie in Grand Rapids history. In 18 games with the Griffins this season, he owns a 10-7-1 record with one shutout, a team-leading 2.70 GAA and a 0.898 save percentage.

MacDonald will be in uniform tonight when the Griffins begin a two-game homestand against the Chicago Wolves at 7 p.m.
