(Rochester, NY)... Tonight, the Rochester Americans were defeated by the Lake Erie Monsters 2-1 in an overtime battle at Quicken Loans Arena. The match up marked the third meeting between the two teams over the past week. With the loss, Rochester drops to 17-22-3-2 (39 points), and extends a six-game winless streak for the Amerks. Lake Erie improves to 21-19-3-4 (49 points) with the victory.

Kenndal McArdle scored Rochester's lone goal, while rookie netminder Jacob Markstrom recorded 39 stops in the overtime loss.

The visitors would carry the single-goal advantage for the rest of the period and the majority of the third, but with five minutes left in the game, Lake Erie's David Van der Gulik scored to force overtime.

In the third, Rochester found themselves outshot 19-5.

Halfway through the overtime period, on their only shot of the stanza, Mark Olver found the back of the net to give the home team the come-from-behind win. Defenseman Cameron Gaunce assisted on the game-winning goal.

Lake Erie's John Grahame made 20 saves for his 10th win of the season.

The Amerks make their second visit to Central New York in as many weeks on Friday, January 21st where a 7:30 p.m. gathering with the Syracuse Crunch awaits at the War Memorial at Oncenter. Fans can tune into all the live action on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk.
