
Bulldogs Sink Whale with 7-3 Win

Hartford, CT - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Connecticut Whale 7-3 on Friday night. For the second straight game, the 'Dogs recorded seven goals as Ben Maxwell had a two-goal game and Brendon Nash had a four-point night.
Hamilton opened the game's scoring at 1:50 of the first period. Gabriel Dumont dished the puck to Hunter Bishop, who fired a shot from just inside the blue line. The puck sailed through traffic and over the right shoulder of Connecticut starting goaltender Chad Johnson. Aaron Palushaj scored on the power play at 3:05. Brendon Nash sent a pass to Palushaj, who skated down the right side of the ice. While in the Whale's zone, Palushaj cut to the front of the net before sliding a backhand shot between the pads of Johnson. Nash added his third point of the period with a power-play goal at 6:02. Kyle Klubertanz dished the puck to Maxwell, who sent a pass to Nash. Nash snapped a shot that bounced off the blocker of Johnson and into the net.
Following this goal, Olivier-Pier Pelletier replaced Johnson in the Connecticut net.
The Whale got on the scoreboard at 6:51 of the first frame with a shorthanded marker. Garlock received the puck from Michael Del Zotto before firing a backhand shot that deflected off the blocker of Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford and into the net. Connecticut made the game 3-2 at 14:48 with a power-play goal. Tim Kennedy fired a shot on net that was stopped by Sanford. The rebound bounced out and onto the stick of Evgeny Grachev, who whacked the puck past the goaltender and in.
Connecticut tied the game 3-3, 31 seconds into the middle stanza with a power-play goal. Wade Redden received the puck from Jeremy Williams before sending a pass to the front of the net where Jason Williams was stationed. Williams snapped a shot that beat Sanford.
The 'Dogs regained the lead at 18:02 of the second frame. Alexander Avtsin fed the puck to J.T. Wyman, who was positioned in the slot. Wyman rifled a shot past Pelletier and into the top of the net.
Dany Masse increased Hamilton's lead to 5-3 at 1:03 of the final stanza. Klubertanz sent a pass to Alex Henry, who was stationed at the left point. Henry blasted a shot towards the net that was redirected by Masse and sailed past Pelletier. Maxwell scored a power-play goal at 5:20. Nash fed a pass to Maxwell, who snapped a shot over the left shoulder of Pelletier. Maxwell added his second goal of the game at 7:01. Maxwell sent the puck to Palushaj, who fed a pass back to Maxwell. Maxwell backhanded the puck past Pelletier and into the net.
The Bulldogs will travel to Adirondack to battle the Phantoms on Saturday, January 22nd at 7:00 p.m. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
