Aces Ready for Holiday Homestand

FRESNO, Calif. – As the club slowly moves upward in the WCHL standings, winners of the last five of six games, the Anchorage Aces invite their fans to join them at Sullivan Arena for what figures to be a highly competitive and entertaining series of games.

All season ticket-holders and sponsors have been invited to Sullivan Arena Thursday night, December 19, for a special "Skate with the Players" from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Food and refreshments will be provided in the VIP area.

The Aces will be wearing their special Christmas jerseys when they welcome the streaking San Diego Gulls, winners of five in a row, Friday and Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Immediately after Saturday's game, the holiday uniforms will be taken directly off the players' backs and auctioned off to those in attendance. Other weekend highlights include the following:

Friday, December 20---The Arctic Silhouettes (synchronized skaters) will dazzle the crowd with their skills. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the game giving out candy canes in the second period and will be available for photos throughout the game. Anchorage's own "King," Elvis Presley, will be at Sullivan performing one of his timeless Christmas Classics.

Saturday, December 21---The Aces thrill their fans "Vegas-style"... Selected on-ice contestants will be given a chance to roll for an Aces' Patriotic jersey... and a chance to win $100 cash! Saturday is also "Union Night," when all labor organizations in Anchorage receive $2 off the price of any ticket. Tickets must be purchased at the Anchorage Aces location on 804 E 15th Ave.

After the team holds a December 23 practice from 10:00 a.m.-Noon at Sullivan, the Anchorage Aces will close their doors December 24-25 to celebrate the Christmas holiday. But the players make an immediate return, practicing December 26 from 10:00 a.m.-Noon at Sullivan and opening a three-game series with the first-place Idaho Steelheads the next night at 7:00 p.m.

The Aces and Costco are having a night with the Anchorage School District on Sunday, December 29 at 5:00 p.m. The Aces are providing coupons to every elementary and middle school in the district redeemable for two free tickets for children 14 and under with the purchase of one adult ticket. During the game, there will be a drawing held, with five lucky winners receiving $100 scholarships, generously provided by Costco. Students can enter the drawing by filling out the entry forms on the back of the coupons. Anchorage School District Superintendent Carol Comeau will be dropping the ceremonial first puck.

Additional highlights for the weekend of December 27-29 include:

Friday, December 27--- "Sparky the Dog" from the Anchorage Fire Department will be in attendance along with his friend, the Fire Department Robot.

Saturday, December 28--- The "mites" take the ice in-between periods.

Sunday, December 29--- The Polar Ice Caps, a youth hockey club, skate between periods.
