Drummond Invited to All-Star Game
December 18, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greensboro Generals News Release
Greensboro, NC â The Greensboro Generals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) are proud to announce defenseman Kurt Drummond has been selected to represent the Generals and the Northern Conference all-star team in the 2003 Compuware/ECHL All-Star Game. The game will be played on Tuesday, January 21 at 7:30 at TECO Arena in Estero, FL.
Durmmond, 24, leads all Generals defensemen with two goals and 15 assists for 17 points. The 6'1", 200-pound native of Edmonton, Alberta will be playing in his first all-star game. Now in his fourth year as a pro, Drummond has accumulated 21 goals and 74 assists for 95 points in 217 games. Drummond is currently on the injured reserve list, but will be back in the lineup long before the all-star game.
"Kurt Drummond couldn't be more deserving of making the all-star team," stated Generals head coach Rick Adduono (ah-DOO-no). "He is the epitome of a two-way defenseman. He always seems to make the right decisions on the ice and has a tireless work ethic. I'm sure he'll represent the Generals extremely well with a tremendous amount of class to go with it."
A notable omission from the northern conference squad is Generals' goaltender Daniel Berthiaume (BERTH-ee-oom). Berthiaume is currently 12-3-3 on the season with a 2.76 goals against average and .911 save percentage. He is tied for the conference lead in total victories, winning percentage (.750), and shootout victories (3), and his save percentage ranks third in the conference.
The Generals next game is tonight at 7:00 against the Columbia Inferno at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Generals will hold a "Teddy Bear Toss" promotion this evening, with everyone receiving a buy one ticket, get one free offer if they bring a teddy bear or stuffed animal to the game. Generals players will hand-deliver the bears to the pediatric ward of Moses Cone Hospital tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. Ticket prices range from $10.00 - $17.00, with tickets as low as $8.00 for students and seniors. Generals Flex Plans for six, twelve, and 18 games are also available for as little as $50.00.
