Express Forward Jaffray to Start in ECHL All-Star Game

ROANOKE, VA – Roanoke Express forward Jason Jaffray was named as a starter for the East Coast Hockey League All-Star Game, it was announced today by the league. The 21-year-old rookie was selected to the starting lineup for the Northern Conference squad after posting 43 points (19 goals, 24 assists) in Roanoke's first 27 games. His point total is second overall in the league and leads all 2002-03 rookies.

The Olds, Alberta native has twice strung together a ten-game points scoring streak during the season, and has currently earned a point in 14 of the last 15 games. Among the highlights this season for the November ECHL Rookie of the Month, was his first career hat-trick on November 26 at Reading, and when he picked up a team high five points in one game on November 2 vs. Augusta. Last season he notched 83 points in 73 games with the Swift-Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League. Overall, Jaffray scored 235 points in five seasons in the WHL.

The starters for the All-Star game were selected by a vote of ECHL coaches and media. The other starters joining Jaffray on the Northern Conference All-Star roster are: Forwards, Kevin Colley of Atlantic City and Tyler Rennette of Peoria; Defensemen Ryan Gaucher of Cincinnati and Simon Tremblay of Reading; Goaltender Scott Stirling of Atlantic City.

The league will announce the Southern Conference starters and roster on Thursday, December 19. The 2003 Compuware/ECHL All-Star Game will be held on January 21 in Estero, Florida, home of the Florida Everblades.
