Greensboro Generals News Release

GREENSBORO GENERALS

The Generals defeated the Greenville Grrrowl 5-2 last Friday night at home. Spotting the Grrrowl a 1-0 lead, Greensboro tied the score on a Vlad Serov goal in the first period. Jay Murphy gave the Generals their first lead of the game at 2-2, but Greenville evened the score with just four seconds left in the second period. The Generals put the game away in the third period, however, with Geno Parrish netting the game-winning goal, and Serov and Mark Turner adding insurance goals. Jamie Hodson was spectacular in net, saving a whopping 52 of 54 shots for the victory.

COLUMBIA INFERNO

The Inferno lost to the Augusta Lynx 3-2 last Saturday night. The Lynx notched the only first period goal on an Andrew Williamson score for a 1-0 lead. The lead increased to 2-0 early in the second period on a Josh St. Louis goal. Columbia didn't get on the board until the final minute of the second period, when Erik Adams cut the deficit to 2-1. However, Augusta regained their two-goal advantage early in the third period. Denis Martynyuk closed the gap to 3-2 late in the game, but it wasn't enough to send the game to overtime.
