Dayton Bombers News Release
The Dayton Bombers Professional Hockey Team has announced that rookie forward Andrew Ianiero has been selected to the Northern Conference All-Star Team and will participate in the 2003 Compuware /ECHL All-Star Game to be played at 7:30 p.m. EST on January 21 at TECO Arena in Estero, Florida.
Ianiero is one of 16 Northern Conference All-Stars making their first-ever ECHL All-Star Game appearance. Ianiero, 21, is second on the Bombers with eight goals and is tied for fourth with 15 points.
Ianiero, who was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the fifth round (154th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, had a five-game point scoring streak from November 30 through December 8. He had three goals and four assists during the stretch.
A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Ianiero was the Bombers' top rookie goal and point (7-3-10) producer during the month of November. Ianiero played the last four seasons with the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League. He scored over 20 goals in each of his four seasons with the team.
The Bombers have a pair of home games this weekend, both against the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. On Friday, December 20, 2002, the Bombers will play a 7:30 p.m. against Atlantic City, resuming a rivalry against this team from the Northeast Division. The Bombers are 2-1 in games played against Atlantic City this season. All three previous tilts have been at Boardwalk Hall, with two coming earlier this month. The Bombers split back-to-back road games against the Boardwalk Bullies on Wednesday, December 4 and Friday, December 6. The Bombers fell 5-1, then topped Atlantic City 4-1 two days later on the strength of Ryan Vince's two goals. The Bombers bested the Boardwalk Bullies 2-1 in a shootout at Boardwalk Hall on November 9. The Bombers lost 6-4 to Atlantic City in the only regular season meeting played between the two teams last season, but won a pair of home games en route to a 3-1 Northern Conference Final series triumph in the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs.
After a road tilt at Cincinnati on Saturday, December 21 (7:05 p.m/ 6:50 p.m. broadcast time on www.daytonbombers.com- "Listen Live Section"- in association with www.sportsjuice.com), the Bombers will play Atlantic City for the fourth time in December to conclude the 2002-2003 regular season series on Sunday, December 22 (6:00 p.m.).
