23 Former Utah Grizzlies On NHL Opening Night Rosters

West Valley City, Utah - 23 former Utah Grizzlies are on NHL opening night rosters as the league opens its season this evening. Former Utah players are represented on 14 teams. Six former Grizzlies players will be displayed tonight at 8 p.m. MDT when the Dallas Stars visit the Colorado Avalanche. The game can be seen on "Versus" formerly OLN.

"We are very proud of our former players who are currently playing at the highest level," said team CEO Kevin Bruder. "As an organization we have always taken pride in moving players to the next stage, while at the same time winning hockey games."

The Grizzlies are preparing for their second ECHL season, which begins October 20 at Phoenix. There have been 303 former ECHL players who have gone on to play in the NHL after playing in the ECHL, including a record 47 in 2005-06. There have been 158 players who have played in the NHL after the ECHL in the past five seasons and there were 13 former ECHL coaches behind the benches of NHL teams in 2005-06.

The home opener for the Grizzlies is Friday, October 27 versus Las Vegas. All ticket packages for the 2006-2007 season are on sale by calling (801) 988-PUCK.
