Storm Returns Top Defenseman

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks, announced today that defenseman Jason Maleyko will return for the 2006-07 season.

"We're really excited about having Jason back for us," said Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Nick Vitucci. "He was a solid defenseman and leader for us last year and is a tremendous playmaker."

Since joining Toledo in 2004, Maleyko has played in all but 9 regular season games. Last year, he logged 67 games with the Storm, tallying a career-high 46 points (6 G, 40 A), which led all Toledo defenseman. He also accumulated 109 penalty minutes. Maleyko, a 6th round draft choice of the Ottawa Senators, also added a pair of goals and six assists during Toledo's playoff run. He served the last half of 2005-06 as the team captain.

The 16th Season of Toledo Storm Hockey debuts on October 20th at the Toledo Sports Arena when the Storm take on the archrival Dayton Bombers at 7:35.
