Stingrays Open Training Camp Saturday

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays announced today that the 14th season of hockey in the Low Country will begin this Saturday when training camp officially starts. This season's training camp is sponsored by the Firehouse Bar and Grill.

There will be no workout on Saturday October 7, as the day is reserved for meetings and physicals.

Sunday, October 8, marks the first official on-ice workout of training camp with a special practice at the Carolina Ice Palace, located at 7665 Northwoods Blvd., from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. This practice, like all practices, is open to the fans along with the media. After Sunday, all practices will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Carolina Ice Palace.

The Rays will have their preseason games at the end of the first week of camp. The Stingrays play the Columbia Inferno at the Ice Palace beginning at 7:00 p.m. on October 13. The game is open to season ticket holders only. The next night, the Rays take on the Charlotte Checkers in Charlotte at 1:30 p.m. Below is a breakdown of each day of the training camp:

Thursday October 12 Practice 9:00 a.m. at the Carolina Ice Palace

Friday October 13 Game 7:00 p.m. at the Carolina Ice Palace

Saturday October 14 Game 1:30 p.m. at Charlotte Checkers

Sunday October 15 Practice 9:00 a.m. at the Carolina Ice Palace

Monday October 16 Practice 9:00 a.m. at the Carolina Ice Palace

Tuesday October 17 Practice 9:00 a.m. at the Carolina Ice Palace

Wednesday October 18 Practice 9:00 a.m. at the Carolina Ice Palace

Thursday October 19 Practice 9:00 a.m. at the Carolina Ice Palace

The puck drops on the 14th season of hockey in the Low Country on October 20 at Gwinnett and returns to home ice against Columbia on October 21.
